7 Benefits Of Building Niche Blogs

In this article, I will describe 7 benefits of building niche blogs.

A “niche” refers to a targeted market with profit potential that is not saturated with competitors. The whole idea is to realize the benefits of building niche blogs and then find the niche markets out there and start building.

Benefit #1

Niche Blogs are essentially niche websites that are alive!

That’s because your blog will grow as you continue to publish posts or pages regularly to your blog. In contrast, many niche websites are seldom modified or updated after they are created.

Benefit #2

Blogs are designed to publish and update contents easily once you have them set up, configured and running.

Once you get the hang of it, it’s a matter of getting into that habit of writing blog posts and pages and publishing them regularly.

Benefit #3

They are either FREE or cost very little to set up.

You can create your blogs easily by visiting blogger.com or wordpress.org and taking time to study and learn the “how-to”.

Benefit #4

You can make money with your niche blogs in many ways, such as:

– Publishing third-party ads in your blogs (eg. Google AdSense pubishing)

– Recommending affiliate products and services in your blogs (eg. Amazon)

Benefit #5

Unlike websites, blogs are interactive. Visitors, or blog readers, are usually allowed to post comments for a blog post (or article) to the blog owner.

This ‘dialog’ helps to build rapport and relationship between the blog owner and his visitors or members.

Benefit #6

Since blogs are usually updated regularly via blog posts and pages, blogs will rank higher in search engines as compared to websites. In contrast, you have to do a lot of tweaking to a niche website through Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques.

Search engines will visit your blogs more regularly as you blog more regularly.

Thus, you can also place links of your other websites to get them indexed quickly by the search engines.

Benefit #7

A blog’s syndication function is its most powerful benefit!

You can syndicate the contents of your blog by allowing other website publishers to publish your feed (or channel) on their sites. This helps to bring more traffic to your blogs as the visitors of these sites subscribe to your feed via web-based or desktop newsreaders.

So, with the above benefits, doesn’t it make a lot of sense to start building niche blogs as quickly as possible?

Things We Need To Learn Before Starting A Niche Blog – A Brief Outline Of Blogging Essentials!

Introduction:

Before starting a blog, one must understand that blogging can be started by anyone, but a successful blog is not everyone’s cup of tea. Blogging is not easy, especially when the purpose is to generate finance. Just starting a blog, stuffing it with basic instruments and dumping content in it does not make it successful. One needs to incorporate the blogging business entities to make money, however, one should also remember that blogging is a breathtaking process, and needs patience.

Why Niche Blog and Not An Ordinary One?

A Niche blog is far better than an ordinary blog, because it can be easily managed due to limited content and visitors. It is highly favorable to the interest-seekers and generators. It is also recommended for finance generation purposes as its advertisements are more frequently clicked than the ordinary ones. The chances of improved Google positioning are also greater in it.

Essential Things To Learn; Tangible and Intangible Elements

1. Tangible Elements

a. Look of the blog

The award-winning blogs are always theme-based. The outlook of a blog is the first things that dominantly represent the theme of it. An educational blog is designed with a background of books, stationary, alphabets, or with the topic of education if it is a niche blog.

The outlook should be catchy and balanced. Here, balanced means avoiding complexity. It should also be clear, and function-supportive i.e. it should not confuse a visitor about ‘where to go to perform a specific function’. Generally, the widgets like sharing at social networking sites, or sharing the page through website are kept at the end of the page, and categories are kept at the top of the page. The owner should not hesitate in adopting the common tactics just to make his blog unique, as the visitors are habitual of those tactics, and would otherwise feel difficulty in operating.

b. Content of blog

The content of the blog should match exactly to the niche of the blog. Content should be interesting and catchy. The headings should be used in the hypertext of every page so that it becomes prominent on search engines. The content should attract reader’s attention and grab them for a longer time. The word limit is also very important. Too much lengthy content is generally left in the middle for several topics like drama, documentary, pets, culture etc. However, niches like politics, education, tourism, socialism etc can exceed the word limit as long as required. The ideal word limit is 250 to 500 words.

c. Reader’s attention tools

One should learn the use of the reader’s attention tools. These similar tools are beneficial in generating more and more traffic. These tools include widgets like pictures, videos, tags, Facebook sharing, e-mail sharing, Twitter sharing, comments etc.

d. Utilizing blogger gadgets and widgets

A complete understanding of blog’s gadgets and widgets is very important. It is recommended that at least one week should be given in understanding and practicing the blog’s gadgets. WordPress is an ideal forum for blog making as it offers far more gadgets than other forums. It is also more convenient to deal with. These gadgets include; videos, pictures, tags, customization etc.

e. The monetary projection

A niche blog is best for moneymaking. A blog projected towards monetary development always keeps some place for ad-placement. Ads should be placed on a blog’s main page once it gains considerable audience. For attracting audience, one should study out the niches efficient in attracting a larger audience.

f. Tools for improving Google ranking

This is a little technical, but yet not difficult. The tools for improving Google ranking include Google Analytics, Backlinks etc. Google Analytics is used for studying the ranking of one’s blog on Google. Backlinks are the connective links between blogs, which are technically used for improving the blog’s audience. For this purpose, guidance should be taken from someone technically professional before starting the blog. Other tools include use of HTML code in header, SEO etc.

2. Intangible Elements

a. Research

Research should be done about the particular niche which is going to be the theme of one’s ‘business’. Research helps the owners in taking a better decision and provides more options for a niche.

b. Language tools

A visitor-supportive language should be adopted in a blog. Remember! Everyone is not familiar with your vocabulary.

c. Vision-supportive outlook

One should keep in mind that the blog looks like a ‘blog’, and not a firework. Visitors might have surfed tens of websites or blogs before reaching out your blog. Too much flowery and heavy outlook might leave them overwhelmed.

d. Read famous blogs

Read the famous blogs frequently, and check them with technical point-of-view also. This would help you in understanding what to adopt for your blog also.

MOTIVATION NOTE FROM ABID

Success has no shortcuts. Blogging is a patience-oriented business and requires you to wait until it reaches success. Therefore, you should keep blogging as a side-business unless you don’t start receiving a considerable finance from your blog. But remember! There are a hundred of successful blogs out there, which are generating tens of thousands of dollars every month. These blogs didn’t fill up the owner’s accounts on the very first day. They were also started by the ‘beginners’. You can also be one of them. All you need are guidelines and patience! Guidelines are here, and patience..inside you!

Niche Blogging: Find Your Right Niche

I discussed a bit about niche blogging in my last article, “Why Do You Want To Blog”, and I wanted to further elaborate and point out a few niche’s you may want to explore. Although it doesn’t have to be, niche blogging is typically for profit. With that being said, if you really think about it, all blogs could be considered niche blogs, right?

Almost all blogs have a focal point and it’s what you’re blogging about. But niche blogs not only have a focal point they’re profit driven. This is clear with marketing blogs. For example, you may see eBooks being offered on becoming a better marketer, recommended reads from an affiliate site or sponsor may be promoted, and you may even see pay-per-click links embedded in the articles.

Blogs like these are very “link embedded”. Within any given post, you’re navigated through the article or webpage with keywords encouraging you to click on an embedded link. That link leads you to another article or even another webpage where you’ll get further information for what you were looking for. What’s great about this form of blogging, is that, it brings together like-minded people with similar interests, further narrowing down the target audience. Your success will however be determined by how much of an expert you become in your niche. And the more knowledgeable you become the more useful the information you provide.

Although I won’t go into more detail about how you can blog for profit, I want to point out a variety of niches you may want to consider blogging about. Here are 12 niches I consider popular at the moment.

Photo Blogging: With the explosion of Instagram, and similar sites such as PicPlz and PicYou, many people have since become self proclaimed photographers. Why wouldn’t they create a photo blog to share their work. Some bloggers’ photo blogs have even helped them to build a portfolio and do freelance work.

Jewelry Making: Have a knack to be a jewelry maker? Or perhaps you just want to learn. You’re not alone. Many bloggers and even store owners have set up online boutiques displaying, promoting and selling their very own hand crafted jewelry. Are you crafty?

Mommy Bloggers:You’re A mom and you want to share your experience with the world, become a mommy blogger. Mommy blogs are very popular, mainly, because one moms experience vary from another. Moms love sharing stories gushing about their kids but also the ugly truths about being a parent. Do you have any parenting tips to share?

Video Sharing: More and more video blogs are popping up. In the generation of short attention spans, short and funny videos are all the rave right now. Popular sites like FunnyorDie.com and WorldStarHipHop.com have become famous for comical relief. Do you have a load of videos you’d like to share?

Food Blogs: Wanna be a food critic? You’re an aspiring chef? Why not blog about your favorite eats. You may even begin doing restaurant reviews. A growing and profitable niche I should note. And who doesn’t like to eat?! Blog about it!

Beauty Blogs: Millions of women spend lots of money each year on beauty products they think will leave their skin glowing, hair shiny, looking ten years younger and waist slimmer. If you’re into beauty products this may be the niche for you. I’ve seen blogs become popular from just one woman sharing her own beauty struggles. Do you want to journal your own beauty stories?

Fashion: Are you the next fashionista? Love fashion and want to blog about your favorite fashion trends? Perhaps you’d like to know where your favorite celeb got his/her outfit. Or perhaps whose the designer. Fashion blogging may be just right for you. Note, beauty and fashion blogs often go hand in hand.

Celebrity News/Gossip: As I’ve mentioned before I’m a celebrity entertainment blogger as well. Although, I admit, this niche is heavily saturated it’s also profitable. People not only envy celebs, many are just as amused when they’re lives are in shambles. Why? It’s further affirmation that with all the fame, beauty, success, and riches they’re just as messed up as the rest of us. Many people become obsessed with the celebrity lifestyle as well, making it difficult to tune them out.

Music/Movie Reviews: Love entertainment? This is a great niche if that’s your thing. There’s a large market for music and movie reviewers. The more knowledgeable you become the more respected you become. People may just listen to what you have to say. You may even get invites to concerts, with access to exclusive photos and interviews.

Love/Relationship/Dating: People spend millions of dollars a year on dating sites like matchmaker.com and eharmony.com to find that special someone. They also flock to blogs and websites to share and read all about matters of the heart. Providing great dating tips can quickly bring traffic to your site. After all, we all just want to be loved. This is also a very profitable niche.

Travel Blogs: Do you like to travel? Do you find excitement in discovering great travel deals? Then creating a travel blog may be right up your alley. You never know, helping others find great travel and exotic locations may even broaden your horizons.

Technology: Tech bloggers are very popular as well. They stay up to date with the latest gadgets and love to share with their readers. They’re also great for explaining what new tech devices are good for and how to use them.

These niches are just several among a bucket list. I want to also note you must love what you decide to blog about. Having a passion for your niche will help in thinking of new article ideas. It’s pretty hard to write about something you’re not passionate about. It will deter you and your consistency as a blogger will begin to wane. And as a blogger writer’s block is inevitable. Love what you do!

Which niche will you blog about?

How To Make Cash With A Niche Blog Versus A General Blog

A Niche Blog Versus A General Blog

If you’re familiar with the IM (that’s Internet Marketing) arena, a lot of people may tell you that if you want to blog for money, you’re going to have to start a blog that’s focused on one niche and just blog about that. And to monetize it, you’re going to have to do affiliate marketing, like ClickBank and use Google AdSense and maybe sell e-books.

They may also tell you that it’s going to be harder to make money with a blog that’s too general, one that talks about pretty much anything and everything and has no focus.

Actually, either way has its own good points and bad points. So let’s take a look at a niche blog versus a relatively general blog, and then you decide which one fits you best.

The Niche Blog

This is where you pick one specific area of interest to talk about and that’s all you talk about. One example is my husband’s blog about deer hunting. Now, that’s a pretty targeted niche. We don’t talk about elk hunting, small game hunting, bear or anything else. Just deer – doe and buck.

And since we live on the east coast, he rarely hunts outside of Pennsylvania, and so most of our articles are based on his 35+ years of experience in the cold weather out in the woods.

My bookmarks blog is another example of a niche blog since it talks specifically about party planning and wedding planning relative to using bookmarks for favors.

Subtopics in a niche blog

But there are a lot of subtopics under deer hunting too. And we haven’t even touched the surface of it because we’ve both been too busy with our other businesses. Also, since I’m not the hunter in the family, I pretty much have to “fake it” and then have my husband look over my posts before I put them on the blog.

So what subtopics come into the deer hunting category? We talk about gear, guns, bows, types of deer hunting seasons, equipment, tree stands, etc. And then there are the articles about camping, because a lot of hunters actually camp while they’re hunting too.

And finally, there’s what you do with the deer once you’ve gotten one. So you can make blankets from the pelt, lamps with the hoofs, and let’s not forget all the venison recipes too.

With the bookmarks site, I blog about a couple of topics besides party and wedding planning such as using bookmarks for fundraising or business promotion.

How do you monetize a niche blog?

All kinds of ways. I have plans to do some videos with my husband to make his blog a lot more appealing and hopefully to get some residual income going with it because I’ve put a lot of time into that blog!

Some monetization options would be YouTube ads, e-books and affiliate links with Amazon and eBay. I can record my husband doing some product reviews on what he uses when he hunts, like special laundry detergents for removing odors and scents before heading out to the woods.

Actually, even with a relatively narrow niche blog about deer hunting, there are a lot of things that can be done with it. It takes time, focus and some creativity, but most topics, regardless of how small they are, can be expanded and still remain on topic.

Also, if your blog is centered around specific seasons or events, you might get more traffic during those trending seasons than at any other time of year. Wedding blogs for instance seem to get most of their traffic around January through March, right around the time as all of the local bridal fairs. This seems to be when most brides-to-be start their wedding planning in earnest for summer and fall weddings.

Similarly, my husband’s deer hunting blog tends to get a decent amount of traffic during the hunting seasons.

What To Do With General Blogs

I like to think of a general blog almost as an online magazine of sorts. You can pick up a beauty magazine from a newsstand and read articles about fashion trends, and vice versa. The “Ladies Home Journal” magazine may be about things to do around the home, but have reviews on family travel and even short stories.

So what would be the purpose of building a general blog versus a niche blog?

Well, here was my thought process behind one of my site conversions, which started out as a niche website that was strictly about general transcription as a home-based freelance business.

I also had a second niche site just for nail art. Neither of those sites were very successful on their own because I just didn’t have enough time to focus on each one separately.

So I decided that since I do my nails at home to save money while working from home, it pertains to working at home, in some roundabout way anyway. And only having one blog with combined content will open the blog up to anyone who’s working at home and trying to make money and save money.

That’s when I decided to build one general blog that talks about working at home in general and I created subcategories to talk about nail art, transcription, Internet Marketing, SEO, etc. And there are a lot of successful blogs that are structured the same way.

So is one blog type better than the other?

That depends on you. If you think you’ll have an easier time talking about one specific niche, and you have a lot of information about that niche, then build a niche blog and stick with one subject.

If you’re passionate about several topics and you don’t want to have to register five or ten separate domain names and build a bunch of different blogs, decide which general topic any of your other topics can fit into easily.

Maybe at some point you may want to be “the authority” of one of the subtopics and branch it out on its own. And maybe not.

If you have the time, passion, creativity and drive to make your one blog a success and make money with it, you’ll stick with it because you enjoy it and your passion and excitement will show through your content.

In summary

You don’t really have to carve out tiny little niche blogs anymore if you really feel yu may not have enough time to devote to each one to make them all successful and making money.

If you want to set up one general blog that talks about a variety of topics, go for it. Just be sure to do some keyword research for each topic, and if you can do it, tie the topics in with the general theme of your blog.

When you’re building your blog, remember that each post or page that you have is indexed in the search engines in its own right by whatever keywords you choose. So build categories for those different topics.

As for making money with any type of blog, there’s AdSense, ClickBank, and don’t forget about YouTube! If you can create a video to go with each blog post, you may build a following more quickly as people get to see you “in person” every time they visit your blog.
